In February 2022, Culture Commons partnered with the Centre for Cultural Value to submit evidence to the DCMS Select Committee (a cross party panel of MP's) enquiry into the relationship between culture and levelling up.

Our evidence explores several key areas, including how:
creative and cultural activity can support the reanimation of the public realm and build a sense of local pride in place
governments can support areas without well established creative and cultural infrastructures to benefit from levelling up opportunities
creative practitioners can participate in local decision making processes in local planning processes
changes to the UK's Public Sector Broadcasting (PSB) could impact on levelling up ambitions
the role of existing festival platforms like the UK City of Culture might support longer term improvements to local cultural ecosystems
